Managing My Digital Madness - LetoFiles

I have finally finished building my personal website and now it is online for all to use. https://www.letofiles.com.

LetoFiles is created because I have too many files buried in CDs, DVD, and Blu-Ray disks.  All these files were backup because of their perceived importance.  But since I didn’t have a proper File Management system in-place, I had no way of tracking what and where my files were.

LetoFiles was not how I envision the project would turn out to be at all.  First, I built a proof of concept using VBA and Microsoft Access and it worked out generally well except one thing, the cool factor.  I wanted a program that’s accessible everywhere and the solution is a full-featured website.
Building a program using VBA on Microsoft Access platform is totally different than rebuilding the same program using web technologies.  The number of technologies required is significant more and for a new web programmer, the learning curve is steep and full of surprises (good ones and bad once).

After 2 years of intermittent development, I finally have a product that I am proud of and now I am putting it out there for everyone to use.

Come and check it, https://www.letofiles.com.  Leave me a message let me know what you like / dislike about it, I want to evolve the website into something everyone can use for re-discover their lost files.

Hello World

Hi there,

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Here is my first ever blog, it feels like I am talking to the entire planet.
I am writing this blog to document my journey on getting a personal website off the ground and I hope people find it useful and fun to use.

First, a little about myself; I am a computer programmer based in Toronto, Canada.  I thoroughly enjoy writing programs, especially when people find my projects helpful and easy to use.

I have a 9 to 5 job as a programmer and I work on my side project during my down time.  I think I am one of the lucky few who enjoy what they do.  Like the famous saying, “You are never at work if you enjoy what you do”.

Thank you for reading my blog and I will come back later to talk a little about my personal website, LetoFiles.com.

Cheers,

HavocDr
